Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a healing modality to prevent and moderate acute and chronic mental illnesses and emotional problems by employing cognitive behavioural therapy, interpersonal therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, psychodynamic therapy, psychoanalysis, social support, play therapy, creative arts therapy, animal assisted therapy, mind-body medicine, energy healing and stress management techniques (Hofmann & Weinberger, 2007; Horrocks, 2005; Tseng & Streltzer, 2001). Psychotherapy may be given alone or accompanied with the medications to speed up the recovery. The need and use of psychotherapy with increasing trend of mental and psychophysiological illnesses such as depression, anxiety, OCD, phobias, traumas, frustration, aggression, impulsive and addictive behaviours, diabetes, cardiac diseases, IBS, cancers, chronic fatigue syndrome etc. has become indispensible to prevent and heal these health issues(Hersen & Sledge, 2002; Kaslow, 2002; Lemma, 2003; Mahoney, 2006; Palmer, 2000; Weiner, 2004). The root cause of psychological and psychosomatic health problems often underlies the mental arena and the same has to be uprooted to prevent and heal them by applying psychotherapy techniques and natural or synthetic medications if necessary. Therefore, PWC has included psychotherapy as its major service and well versed psychologists associated with it have been catering the integrated psychotherapy for the needy people.
